Martha Steinitz on the occasion of the awarding of her honorary M.A. from the University of Leeds around 1959 at age 70. She was given it by the Princess Royal.

More about Martha Steinitz:

Otherwise known as Matchek, the youngest of 10 children of Hermann and Ida. She moved to England, I think in the 20's and proceeded to run the family from there. She rescued most of her siblings. She also told my mother what to do over the ocean. A dearly beloved character in Leeds, where she taught in an extension school and lived with "die 10,000 Jungfern" in a little house (probably supported them all).
